Upside Down Peri Bottle
Warm-water rinsing after every toilet visit is one of the most common pieces of advice given to new mothers, because wiping is uncomfortable in the days after a vaginal birth and during postpartum bleeding after a c-section. The Frida Mom Peri Bottle is designed to make that rinse easy: it works upside down, and the angled nozzle reaches without contorting.
How to use
- Fill with warm water before you sit down. Have it ready every time.
- Hold upside down and spray from front to back while going to the toilet and afterwards.
- Pat dry. Refill for the next visit.
Good to know
- Included in the Hospital Labour & Delivery Kit, or buy separately. The Postpartum Recovery Kit does not include it.
- Rinse and air-dry between uses. Comes with a travel bag.

Step by step
How to use the Upside Down Peri Bottle
Fill with warm water
Unscrew the top, fill, and screw the cap back on firmly. Warm water is all you need.
Turn it upside down
Put a finger over the valve on the nozzle to hold the flow until you are ready.
Sit, position, release
The angled neck reaches without you leaning past the toilet. Move your finger off the valve to start.
Gentle squeeze, front to back
A steady, controlled stream. Repeat as needed after every toilet visit.
Pat dry, do not wipe
A clean soft cloth or soft toilet paper. Rinse the bottle and let it air dry.
Not just the first week
Three moments the bottle earns its place.
After a vaginal birth
From the first toilet visit. Rinsing instead of wiping is gentler on stitches and tender tissue.
After a caesarean
Lochia still happens. Rinsing is more comfortable and more hygienic while bending is hard.
Beyond the first weeks
Many mums keep using it for hygiene long after recovery, and take it travelling.
What midwives recommend
Rinse, don't wipe.
Australian midwives routinely advise rinsing the perineal area with warm water after every toilet visit in the first weeks, then patting dry. Wiping over stitches or swollen tissue is painful and disturbs the area.
Hospitals hand out a basic squirt bottle for exactly this. The upside-down design and angled neck mean you can do it sitting normally, without a hand anywhere near the toilet bowl. Your midwife will check your recovery before discharge and is the person to ask about anything specific.
