ToothHugger Toothbrush
Toddlers tolerate tooth brushing for a very short window. The ToothHugger uses that window well: a triple-angle head hugs each tooth from three sides at once, cleaning the front, back and biting surface in a single pass.
How to use
- Use a rice-grain smear of children's toothpaste, or none, as your dentist advises.
- Guide the head along the row of teeth with gentle pressure; the angled bristles do the work.
- Rinse and stand upright to dry. Replace every three months or when bristles splay.
Good to know
- Suited to toddlers with several teeth through.
- Soft bristles. Chunky handle for small hands or an adult's grip.

Step by step
How to use the ToothHugger
A pea-sized smear of children's toothpaste
Low-fluoride children's toothpaste for 18 months to 6 years. Not adult toothpaste.
Let them have a go first
Hand it over. Holding the brush and copying you builds the habit and the motor skills, even if nothing much gets cleaned.
You finish, three sides at once
Guide the head over each tooth. The triple-angle bristles cover front, back and biting surface in one pass, so it takes seconds, not minutes.
Twice a day
Morning and last thing at night, after the final drink. Spit, don't rinse, so a little fluoride stays on the teeth.
Rinse and stand it up
Rinse, then stick the suction base to the bench, bristles up. Replace every three months or when the blue bristles fade to white.
Built for toddlers
Designed for short attention spans and tired parents.
Three sides in one pass
A flat brush needs three angles per tooth. The U-shaped head does it in one, which matters when you have a five-second window.
Colour-change bristles
Blue bristles fade to white over about three months, the recommended replacement interval, so you do not have to remember.
Suction cup base
Stands upright on the bench, bristles off the surface. No cup, no puddle.
Soft, rounded bristles
Bend rather than break when a toddler clamps down. Gentle on new enamel and gums. BPA-free and latex-free.
What Australian dental guidance says
Start before the first tooth. Brush twice a day from the first one.
The Australian Dental Association recommends cleaning a baby's gums before any teeth appear, brushing twice a day from the first tooth, using a smear of low-fluoride children's toothpaste from 18 months, and a first dental check by the first birthday.
The Fingerbrush covers gums and first teeth. From around 18 months, when there are more teeth and more opinions, the ToothHugger cleans three sides of each tooth in one pass. Ask your dentist or child health nurse about anything specific to your child.
