About Frida
Is Frida available in Australia?
Yes — Frida Baby and Frida Mum are now officially available in Australia through fridaaustralia.com.au with fast shipping Australia-wide. The range is also stocked at selected Australian retailers including Baby Bunting.
Australian parents have been importing Frida products for years. We're here to make that significantly less complicated.
What is Frida and what does it make?
Frida is a solution-based brand that makes products for the unglamorous, practical, real parts of parenting, not lifestyle gear, problem-solving gear. The kind you need at 2am when nothing is working.
Frida Baby covers the baby and toddler years: nose care, dental care, grooming, health, and skin care. Frida Mum covers the fourth trimester and postpartum recovery, the part after birth that most people don't prepare for properly.
It started with a Swedish snot sucker in 2014. It now spans over 100 products used in 50+ countries.
What's the difference between Frida Baby and Frida Mum?
Frida Baby is the range for babies and toddlers, the products that help parents keep their child healthy, clean, and breathing from birth through to school age.
Frida Mum is the range for the person who gave birth, specifically postpartum recovery, perineal care, and hospital bag essentials. It covers the things nobody puts on the registry but everyone desperately needs in the days and weeks after birth.
Are Frida products safe — who recommends them?
Frida Baby products are recommended by paediatricians and midwives in Australia and internationally. The NoseFrida is used in hospitals worldwide. All products are BPA-free, phthalate-free, and manufactured to meet relevant safety standards for infant use.
Safety is built into the product design, the NoseFrida's hygiene filter, the SnipperClipper's spyhole, the MediFrida's cheek-delivery mechanism. It's usually the reason the product exists in the first place.
Are Frida products made in Australia?
Frida products are designed in the USA and manufactured to international safety standards. The NoseFrida originated in Sweden and is manufactured there. Other products are manufactured in the USA or internationally. Frida Australia distributes the full range to Australian parents.
NoseFrida safety
Is the NoseFrida safe — won't I get sick using it?
No — when used correctly with a clean filter in place. The disposable hygiene filter sits between the mucus collection chamber and the mouthpiece and is clinically proven to prevent bacterial and mucus transfer. Nothing reaches your mouth. Replace the filter after every use.
Clinical evidence covers bacterial transfer specifically. Viral particles are smaller and not covered by the same evidence — but as a parent you're regularly exposed to your baby's coughs, sneezes, and saliva regardless of the NoseFrida.
Is the NoseFrida safe for newborns?
Yes — safe from birth, including premature babies. The tube sits against the outside of the nostril rather than inside it, so there's no risk of inserting it too deep or irritating delicate nasal tissue. Parent-controlled suction naturally self-limits. BPA-free, phthalate-free, and latex-free.
Worth knowing: newborns are obligate nose-breathers — they breathe primarily through their noses. A blocked nose affects feeding directly. Don't wait it out if your newborn is congested.
Can I suck too hard and hurt my baby?
No. Parent-powered suction naturally self-limits — you instinctively apply appropriate pressure, and the nasal passages themselves limit airflow. There is no mechanism by which you can apply harmful suction through the NoseFrida. Safe to use as often as needed.
Frida Mum
What should I pack in my hospital bag for postpartum recovery?
The postpartum essentials most Australian mums wish they'd had: a peri bottle for post-toilet rinsing, instant ice pads for perineal swelling, soft disposable underwear, witch hazel cooling pad liners, perineal healing foam, and maternity pads. The Frida Mom Labour & Delivery Kit covers all of these in one pre-packed toiletry bag that goes straight into your hospital bag.
Beyond the Frida kit: your Medicare card and health fund details, toiletries, phone charger and portable battery, lip balm for labour, snacks, and a comfortable loose going-home outfit.
What's the difference between the Labour & Delivery Kit and the Postpartum Recovery Kit?
The Postpartum Recovery Kit contains the five-step postpartum recovery regimen — peri bottle, disposable underwear, ice pads, cooling liners, healing foam, and caddy. Best for: at-home postpartum recovery focus.
The Labour & Delivery Kit contains everything in the Recovery Kit plus a labour gown, grip socks, and a toiletry carry bag. Best for: anyone packing a hospital bag who wants everything covered from the labour ward through to the first week home.
Which disposable underwear should I buy — High Waist or Boyshort?
High Waist — best for c-section recovery (waistband sits above the incision without pressure), or if you prefer more abdominal coverage and support in the first weeks postpartum. Works after any birth type.
Boyshort — best for vaginal birth recovery, or if you prefer an everyday underwear-style cut. Lower rise, full coverage, same soft stretchy fabric. If you're unsure, the High Waist is the more versatile choice.
When should I buy the postpartum kit — before or after birth?
Before. Ideally four to six weeks before your due date — pack it into your hospital bag and don't think about it again. Babies in Australia arrive an average of five days before their due date and labours can progress quickly once they start.
The absolute worst time to realise you need a peri bottle is in hospital, after birth, about to make your first bathroom trip. Buy it early. Pack it. Done.
Postpartum
What is the fourth trimester?
The fourth trimester is the first three months after birth — a period of significant physical and emotional adjustment for both the baby and the birthing parent. The term acknowledges that the person who gave birth is going through a major transition that deserves attention alongside the newborn's needs.
Physically, this period involves recovery from birth, hormonal changes, establishment of feeding, and healing of birth-related tissue. Frida Mum's postpartum recovery range is designed specifically for this period.
Are Frida Mum products safe to use while breastfeeding?
Yes — the witch hazel in the cooling liners and healing foam is applied topically to the perineal area and is not absorbed systemically in meaningful quantities. All Frida Mum products are used externally and are not contraindicated during breastfeeding. If you have specific concerns, discuss them with your midwife, GP, or lactation consultant.
What support is available if I'm struggling emotionally after birth?
Please reach out. Postnatal depression and anxiety affect approximately one in five new mums in Australia and are treatable with the right support. You don't need to be in crisis to call — if you're not feeling like yourself, that's reason enough.
