SnipperClipper Set
Newborn nails grow quickly and are easy to catch. The SnipperClipper Set is built so you can see the nail while you cut it: a spyhole in the clipper head, a guard that keeps the blade away from the fingertip, and a file for the edges.
How to use
- Best done after a bath or while baby is asleep, when nails are soft and hands are still.
- Press the fingertip pad back, line the nail up in the spyhole, and clip in small sections following the natural curve.
- Finish with the file so there are no sharp corners.
Good to know
- Designed for use from birth through toddlerhood.
- Stainless steel blades. Rinse and dry after use.
In the box

Step by step
How to cut baby nails with the SnipperClipper
Choose the moment
Deep sleep after a feed, or straight after a warm bath when nails are soft. Never mid-wriggle.
Press the fingertip pad back
Hold the finger between your thumb and forefinger and press the pad of the fingertip down, away from the nail.
Look through the spyhole
The window on top shows exactly how much nail is in the cutting mouth, and whether any skin is. Adjust before you squeeze.
Snip along the curve
The curved blades follow the nail shape, so one or two small snips does it. Leave a sliver of white.
Smooth with the S-file
The curved file rounds off the edges so they do not scratch. Fingernails every one to two weeks; toenails less often.
How often do baby nails need cutting?
More often than you think in the first months.
Newborn, 0 to 3 months
Nails are soft and close to the skin. Many nurses suggest filing only for the first two to four weeks, then clipping every one to two weeks. Toenails every three to four.
3 to 12 months
Fingernails every one to two weeks, toenails every three to four. Short nails matter more once hands go everywhere.
Toddler
Fingernails every one to two weeks, toenails every two to three. Nails are firmer now and the clipper still copes well.
