100% BPA-free antibacterial silicone

Safe from birth — newborn skin gentle

Works for cradle cap, eczema & dry skin

Aussie summers are no joke, and neither is baby eczema, cradle cap, or dry skin. The Skinsoother is a soft silicone massager that loosens flaky skin and helps soothing creams actually absorb, instead of just sitting on top. Gentle enough for newborns, effective enough that you'll wonder how you survived without it.

Flaky scalp. Dry patches. Eczema. One soft silicone brush that helps with all of it.

Baby skin conditions look alarming and respond remarkably well to the right tool. The Skinsoother's soft silicone bristles gently exfoliate flakes and massage creams into skin, so the moisturiser you're already using actually does its job.

Why a silicone brush and what it does that a washcloth doesn't

A standard washcloth is fine for general cleaning. For dry skin, cradle cap, and eczema, conditions that involve flaking, scaling, or skin that needs help absorbing moisturiser, it's not the right tool. The rough texture of a washcloth can irritate already-sensitive skin, and the flat surface doesn't provide the targeted pressure needed to loosen stuck flakes or work cream into the skin effectively.

The Frida Baby Skinsoother is made from 100% soft silicone antibacterial, bacteria-resistant, and gentle enough for a newborn's scalp. The silicone bristles provide gentle exfoliation that loosens dead skin cells and flaky patches without scratching or irritating. The massage bead design creates targeted pressure that works cream and moisturiser into the skin rather than just spreading it on the surface, which is the key difference between moisturiser that helps and moisturiser that just makes the skin look shiny.

The result is cleaner skin, better cream absorption, and a significantly more effective bath time routine for babies with skin conditions, with the added bonus that most bubs find the massage sensation deeply soothing, particularly before bed.

Three conditions. One tool. Here's how it helps with each.

    • Cradle cap (seborrhoeic dermatitis)

The yellowish, flaky or crusty scales on a baby's scalp that appear in the first weeks or months of life. Extremely common, not harmful, and usually clears on its own within a few months but can look alarming and cause discomfort if left untreated.

How the Skinsoother helps: Massaging a small amount of natural oil (coconut or olive) into the scalp before the bath, then using the Skinsoother in gentle circular motions, loosens the flakes without forcibly picking them. The brush reaches the scalp through the hair much more effectively than fingers or a standard cloth.

    • Baby eczema (atopic dermatitis)

Red, dry, itchy patches that appear most commonly on the cheeks, scalp, and flexural areas (elbows, knees, neck) in babies. Affects approximately 30% of Australian children. Triggered by heat, sweat, soap, and dry air, particularly common in Australian summers and in heated indoor environments in winter.

How the Skinsoother helps: Use the brush in circular motions to gently massage eczema-appropriate moisturiser into affected areas. The massage action drives cream into the skin rather than leaving it on the surface, this is the step that makes the difference for eczema management. Do not use on broken or actively bleeding skin.

    • Dry skin & general dryness

Very common in Australian babies, particularly newborns whose skin is adjusting from the amniotic environment, and in winter when heating and low humidity dry the air. General dryness presents as tight, flaky, or rough patches, particularly on the face, scalp, and extremities.

How the Skinsoother helps: Use with a gentle baby cleanser at bath time for general exfoliation and skin health maintenance. The silicone bristles remove dry surface cells without stripping natural oils, and the massage action stimulates circulation in the skin.

    • General bath time use

Even without a specific skin condition, the Skinsoother is an effective replacement for a washcloth for everyday bathing. Silicone doesn't harbour bacteria the way fabric does, dries almost instantly (no more mouldy bath flannels), and the massage sensation is typically very calming for babies, useful as part of a pre-sleep bath routine.

How the Skinsoother helps: Apply a small amount of gentle baby wash and use in circular motions from head to toe at bath time. The suction cup stores it on the bath wall, always dry, always clean, always within reach.

How to use the Frida Baby Skinsoother

    For Cradle Cap

    1. Before the bath
Massage a small amount of natural oil, coconut oil, olive oil, or baby oil, into the affected areas of the scalp. Leave for 10–15 minutes to soften the flakes.
    2. During the bath:
Use the Skinsoother in gentle circular motions across the scalp. The softened flakes will loosen and lift. Do not press hard or pick at flakes, work gently and let the brush do the work.
    3. Rinse thoroughly: Rinse the scalp and hair well to remove loosened flakes and oil. Pat dry with a soft towel. Repeat every bath until the cradle cap clears.

    For Eczema and Dry Skin

    1. At bath time:
Use the Skinsoother with a gentle, fragrance-free baby cleanser in circular motions over affected areas. Keep bath water lukewarm, hot water worsens eczema and dryness.
    2. After the bath:Pat skin dry immediately, never rub. While skin is still slightly damp, apply your eczema moisturiser or emollient.
    3. Massage cream in:
Use the Skinsoother in gentle circular motions to massage the moisturiser into the skin. The massage bead action drives cream into the skin rather than leaving it on the surface, this is the key step for effective eczema management.

    For Everyday General Use

    At bath time:
Apply a small amount of gentle baby wash to the brush. Use in circular motions from head to toe for a gentle cleanse and exfoliation. Rinse thoroughly. Store on the suction cup on the bath wall to dry.

A better bath brush. For babies with complicated skin.

    • 100% soft silicone bristles

Gentle enough for newborn skin, effective enough to loosen cradle cap flakes and exfoliate dry patches. Bacteria-resistant silicone doesn't harbour mould or odour like a fabric washcloth and dries almost instantly.

    • Massage beads for cream absorption

The raised massage beads create targeted pressure that drives moisturiser and eczema creams into the skin rather than leaving them sitting on top. The step that makes your existing skincare routine work significantly better.

    • Head to toe versatility

Use on the scalp for cradle cap, on the body for eczema and dry patches, and as an everyday bath brush for general cleansing. One tool for every skin situation, adjust pressure and product depending on the area.

    • Suction cup storage

Sticks to the bath wall for quick-dry storage between uses, always accessible, always dry, no drippy flannel on the edge of the bath. The suction cup holds securely on most smooth bath and shower surfaces.

    • BPA-free, safe from birth

Antibacterial silicone that's free from BPA and phthalates. Safe for use on newborn skin from day one. Easy to clean, rinse under warm water after each use or run through the dishwasher top rack.

    Questions? We've got answers.

Is the Frida Baby Skinsoother safe for newborns?

Yes — the Skinsoother is safe from birth. The soft silicone bristles are gentle enough for newborn skin, including the fontanelle area of the scalp (the soft spot), when used with very light pressure. If you're using it on a newborn's scalp for cradle cap, work gently and use minimal pressure. The silicone will not scratch or abrade healthy newborn skin when used correctly.

How do I use it for cradle cap specifically?

Massage a small amount of natural oil (coconut, olive, or baby oil) into the affected scalp area and leave for 10–15 minutes to soften the flakes. Then use the Skinsoother in gentle circular motions during the bath to loosen the softened flakes before rinsing. Never pick or forcibly remove flakes, the brush-after-oil method is the safe approach. Repeat at each bath until the cradle cap clears, which typically takes several weeks of consistent treatment.

Can I use it on my baby's face?

Yes — very gently. Baby eczema often affects the cheeks and the areas around the nose and mouth, and the Skinsoother can be used to massage moisturiser into these areas with very light circular pressure. Avoid the eye area. Always check your baby's response the first time — reduce pressure if they seem uncomfortable. For very young babies, use the lightest possible touch on facial skin.

How is silicone better than a washcloth for eczema?

A washcloth spreads moisturiser on the skin surface rather than helping it absorb. The massage bead design of the Skinsoother creates targeted pressure that drives cream into the skin, this is the difference between moisturiser that helps manage eczema and moisturiser that just sits on top and evaporates. Silicone is also bacteria-resistant and dries instantly, which means no mould or odour between uses — an important hygiene consideration when treating broken or sensitive skin.

My baby's cradle cap is very thick — will this work?

For mild to moderate cradle cap, the oil-and-brush method with the Skinsoother is effective and safe. For very thick, widespread, or persistent cradle cap that doesn't respond to home treatment after several weeks, consult your GP or child health nurse. Some severe presentations can be a form of seborrhoeic dermatitis that benefits from specific medicated treatments, your GP can advise on whether prescription options are appropriate.
