The witch hazel that actually stays put.
Liquid witch hazel soaks into the pad. Foam stays exactly where you spray it, on the tissue that needs it. That's the whole idea.

Why foam? Because the sore bits need it, not the pad.
Traditional witch hazel products come as a liquid, either a spray or a toner applied with cotton pads. They work. But when you apply liquid witch hazel to a pad, most of it absorbs straight into the pad fibres rather than staying in contact with the tissue that needs it. You're effectively treating the pad, not the person.
Foam changes that. The Frida Mom Perineal Healing Foam has a lightweight mousse consistency that sits on top of a pad or pad liner rather than soaking through it. When you put the pad on, the foam comes into direct contact with the perineal area and absorbs into the tissue, delivering the witch hazel exactly where the swelling, soreness, and healing is happening.
One pump per pad change. Instant relief. The bit that makes the whole recovery regimen feel like it's working.
Six reasons the foam earns its place in the stack.
-
Foam stays where you put it
Unlike liquid witch hazel that soaks into the pad, foam sits on top and absorbs into the tissue directly. The relief goes to the right place every time.
-
50% medicated witch hazel
A therapeutic concentration that actively reduces inflammation, soothes irritation, and supports tissue healing — not a token amount in a mostly-water formulation.
-
Instant cooling on contact
The foam provides immediate relief the moment it contacts sore tissue. For extra intensity, pop the bottle in the fridge, cold foam on a sore perineum is one of postpartum's small mercies.
-
Covers everything from tears to haemorrhoids
Front to back coverage in one pump. Effective for perineal tears, episiotomy stitches, general swelling, bruising, and the postpartum haemorrhoids that nobody warns you about.
-
No harsh chemicals, dyes or fragrances
Healing tissue is sensitive tissue. No artificial colours, no perfumes, no alcohol in high concentrations. Just witch hazel, chamomile extract, vitamin E, and peppermint oil for the cooling sensation.
-
Easy pump dispenser
One-handed operation. One pump per pad change. Designed to be used while sitting on the toilet if needed, because postpartum dignity deserves better than awkward yoga poses.

How to use your Perineal Healing Foam
One pump. Thirty seconds. Every pad change. That's the whole routine.
- Cleanse first. Use your Frida Mom Peri Bottle to rinse the perineal area with warm water after using the loo. Pat gently dry, don't wipe.
- Place your pad or liner. Put your cooling pad liner on top of a fresh maxi pad as usual.
- Pump one to two times onto the liner. Dispense directly onto the pad liner or pad surface. The foam sits on top rather than soaking through, that's exactly what you want.
- Pull on your underwear. The foam stays in place as the liner settles against the perineal area. Instant cooling and relief begin on contact.
- Repeat with every pad change. One to two pumps per change, as often as needed. No maximum, use it as frequently as you need relief throughout the day.

From perineal tears to postpartum haemorrhoids, this covers it all.
PERINEAL TEARS
The witch hazel in the foam has established astringent and anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce swelling and support tissue healing around tear sites. Use at every pad change for consistent relief throughout the healing period.
EPISIOTOMY STITCHES
Soothing for the burning and itching that commonly accompanies healing stitches. The foam consistency means it stays in contact with the affected area for longer than a liquid would, more sustained relief per application.
POSTPARTUM HAEMORRHOIDS
One of the least-talked-about but most common postpartum complaints. Witch hazel is a clinically recognised treatment for haemorrhoid discomfort and the foam's coverage means front-to-back relief in one application. Nobody prepares you for this part. This helps.
GENERAL SWELLING & BRUISING
Even without specific tears or stitches, the perineal area can be significantly swollen and bruised after birth. The cooling and anti-inflammatory action of the foam addresses this general postpartum discomfort as effectively as it does more specific injuries.
Questions? We've got answers.
How is the foam different from the cooling pad liners?
They're both witch hazel but they work differently and complement each other. The cooling pad liner is a pre-soaked sheet that lays flat across your full pad, it provides broad front-to-back coverage and changes with every pad. The foam is pumped directly onto the pad or liner for more concentrated, targeted relief and because it's foam rather than liquid, it absorbs into the tissue rather than soaking into the pad. Used together they provide the most complete postpartum perineal relief possible.
Can I use the foam directly on my skin rather than on the pad?
Yes — many mums find direct application more effective, particularly for haemorrhoid relief. You can apply a small amount to a clean piece of soft toilet paper or cotton pad and dab gently onto the affected area. Avoid rubbing. Always cleanse the area first with your peri bottle. If you have specific stitches or wounds, check with your midwife before direct application.
Is the foam safe to use on stitches?
Witch hazel foam is commonly recommended by midwives for perineal care including areas with stitches, its properties support healing rather than interfering with it. The Frida Mom Healing Foam is specifically formulated without harsh chemicals, dyes, or fragrances that could irritate healing tissue. As always, follow your midwife or obstetrician's specific wound care guidance and contact your healthcare provider if you have any concerns.
How long will one bottle last?
At one to two pumps per pad change, changing pads four to six times per day in the early postpartum days, one 150ml bottle typically lasts seven to fourteen days. Most mums find the foam most essential in the first week, after that, frequency of use naturally decreases as healing progresses. Buying two bottles is a safe approach if you want to ensure you don't run out during peak recovery.
Can I use it for postpartum haemorrhoids?
Absolutely — and it's one of the foam's most valuable uses. Postpartum haemorrhoids are extremely common (many women develop them during pregnancy or the pushing stage of labour) and witch hazel is a well-established first-line treatment for haemorrhoid discomfort. The foam's front-to-back coverage means you get relief for both perineal soreness and haemorrhoids in one application. This is something very few new mums know before birth, consider this your heads up.
